Twice-yearly Audi Centre newsletter

Background

An independent agency puts this newsletter together for Audi. Each Audi Centre has a bespoke version. Half the newsletter contains Audi-approved marque news, the rest is filled with local Audi Centre news.

I write all the national marque news together with bespoke stories for those Audi Centres that prefer to have their news written for them. Here's one marque and two bespoke stories.

The new Audi Cabriolet

The Audi Cabriolet is a breath of fresh air: all the exhilaration of soft-top motoring backed by the certainty and confidence for which Audi technology is renowned.

Here is the essence of convertible style: comfort, performance, safety, and – above all – stunning good looks. The Audi Cabriolet is instantly recognisable as part of Audi's acclaimed A4 range, yet the elegant lines evoke a more stylish way of life.

The Audi Cabriolet is larger and stronger than its predecessor. It's also the first in its class to offer you the choice of multitronic automatic transmission. With genuine four-seat comfort and the practicality of a flat-surfaced, 98-litre luggage capacity, the Audi Cabriolet exploits its extended wheelbase to the full. Additionally, a phenomenal 112% increase in body rigidity promotes a smooth ride.

Safety is paramount. An ultra-rigid windscreen frame and a passenger safety cell bring peace of mind. In the unlikely event of an accidental roll, two rear-seat bars instantly activate for extra protection.

The Audi Cabriolet lets you make the most of the changeable British weather. Just 24 seconds is all it takes to stow the hood neatly out of sight – or to raise it again, should the sunshine prove less dependable than the hood's effortlessly reliable electro-hydraulics.

Old rockers strike a chord

Roll your minds back 20 years to a more innocent age – and picture a younger, bluesier Graham Harris, ace guitarist of rock-band, Benn. History might have been different for the wild man of Croydon rock…except that, in March 1981, a thief stole Graham's favourite guitar. It was the end of a glittering rock-'n'-roll career.

Fast-forward now to October 2001. Although the blues still course through his veins, a clean-shaven Graham is now the chirpy Aftersales Manager at Croydon Audi. At a colleague's retirement party he comes across fellow axeman, Atheesan Arudsothy. The pair strike up a conversation about their mutual love of guitars.

Apparently the glorious guitar that Atheesan has at home is very like the one that Graham lost all those years before. They investigate further. It is the guitar that Graham lost – and still in its original case.

Atheesan knows what he must do. After two long decades, guitar and guitarist are reunited. Just in time for the come-back album.

How's that? Listers Audi pitches in for young Warwickshire cricketers

Aspiring young Warwickshire cricketers will be hitting sixes every ball for the next three years thanks to generous sponsorship from Listers Audi. The sponsorship money – which amounts to more than £100,000 across three years – will pay for specialist coaches to develop top-level cricketing skills.

The Warwickshire Cricket Academy takes the best of the region's young cricketers from around thirteen years old, and grooms them for future stardom. Keith Bradshaw, Managing Director of Listers Audi, hopes that these youngsters will one day bat for England. Keith is passionate about cricket – and about England's future success. His personal ambition is to see England beat Australia in Sydney by an innings and 100 runs.

If the performance of Warwickshire's young stars is anything to go by, that day is fast approaching…
